The UK or the US, which one is the best option for study abroad?

According to the Times Higher Education ranking, around 200 top universities are either located in the US or in the United Kingdom. Both countries are famous for rich cultural values, excellent research facilities, and academic freedom. Though both countries share an excellent learning environment but still have many differences. Let’s explore the basic difference between studying in the UK and the US.

Length of your time

There is a difference in the amount of time that is required to finish the degree while you study in UK and th eUS. Generally, the time duration of US educational program is around one year longer than the UK however, it varies according to the programs in which you want to enroll in. In the UK, in order to get enrolled in a Master’s program before going to the Ph.D. Program. However, in the US you can start studying Ph.D. Right after completing the postgraduate program.

Living Cost

Though the cost in both the countries is not really high, in compression, the education cost in the US is relatively higher than the UK. On the other hand, in the UK, dormitories are self-catered, while in the US students can avail some dining options. One of the most potential difference in the UK is maid service that students can get by paying a nominal fee.

Study Criteria

In the United Kingdom exams usually held only once in a year, sometimes in spring or in summers. On the contrary, in the US the exams usually held twice a year, that is, at the end of each semester. It takes three years to obtain a degree in the United Kingdom, and one or two more years to obtain a master’s degree. You will start your studies in top universities in US, you need to complete at least two years of compulsory subjects. However, it takes almost four years to get a degree in the US, and two additional years if you want to get a master’s degree too.
