Accommodation facilities for International Students in the USA and Canada.

Finally decided to cross-border and pursue further education overseas? As easy as it might seem, it’s certainly not so easy to blend in with environmental cultures. Especially accommodation arrangements could be a toughie for you as you ask yourself,” where am I gonna live?”. For the USA:

There are two options to consider for accommodations suiting on your personal preference.

On-Campus dormitories:

Dorms in the USA vary in design but provide the same extravagant facilities depicted in novels. Doms abides by the rule that 2 students share a room in a hall comprising around 40 students. There are separate rooms for each gender and an area for cooking purpose or for the just chilling purpose.

However, some of the top universities in the USA comprise of pods in which each student owns a bedroom but have to share a common bathroom.

Off-campus:

The more popular choice is living in off-campus housing. It is located close to or within city centers.

 For Canada:

On-campus branches out to townhouses and dormitories.

Dormitories are highly suggested to first-year college and university students. These are buildings where rooms are allocated to per person(or more) per room depends on schools with a common area for cooking, entertainment and chilling purpose.

Whereas, townhouses are detached compartments accommodating 4-6 students with single occupancy rooms meaning no roommates with the main floor containing the kitchen and lounge area.

Both options have nearby eating places so to fulfill your eating requirements and both grants you access to utilities such as heat, hot water, and internet, or offer them at a reduced fee.

Off-Campus:

Off-campus, however, serve you to shared apartments option. Keep in mind that not all schools in Canada assist you on off-campus housing, you would be expected to do research on them by yourself or they will advise you to some agencies for further assistance. Regardless, it is better to do a research beforehand.

Shared apartments provide you with a single room with either one or more roommates. Its same as townhouses in terms of occupancy and living area. Lastly, Renal costs vary from city to city and place to place.
